THE SUB
The Sub, official team support vehicle, vanquishes all roads with equal disdain, and thinks nothing of transporting up to 16 riders and 14 bikes, along with the usual cooler of Buds.
- 454 cubic inch V8 - all the power, none of the mileage
- 10,000 pound winch - like Booch's women
- More rust than metal - lighter for top performance
Recently Team Mechanic Mike completed extensive reconstruction of the Sub's chassis systems, including:
- Fabtech 4" lift kit, with:
- New shocks on all corners
- New A-arms in front
- Spacers on rear axle (lift)
- All new bushings
- New springs
- New control arms
- New ball joints
- New power steering pump, gear, and hoses
- Completely rebuilt driveshaft, with new U-joints, balanced and painted
- New wheel bearings at all 4 corners
- New rear axles
- New front disk and rear drum brakes, pads, shoes, hardware
- Frame reinforced in power steering gear area with special 1/4" plate from JC Whitney; welded on

Previously, the cylinder heads were completely rebuit by El Cajon Machine, and the carb was replaced by a Holley Dominator. Runs great. Of course, the Suburban is a '73, so it's smog-exempt. Booya!
The Sub is suspended, spaceship-like, by 6 jackstands and two large stumps, yet still seems extremely dangerous to be under, which it is.
New Hellas light up the night at 60 mph on washboard roads deep in the bowels of baja.
Suffice to say, driving on the beach does not pose a legal problem in Mex.
AT LAST! The Sub is repainted SPARKLY gold and white and now shimmers and gleams like a bass boat. Also dig the new surfboard attachment, bringing the mighty rack to version 4.0.
